Is pork allowed in the attack phase?

Because you're only allowed to eat protein during the Attack phase, pork is permitted. The catch is that the pork should be lean and as low in fat as possible, since Dukan believes that fat is one of the primary diet enemies. Lean pork chops or pork roasts are better choices than fattier cuts of pork such as sausage and bacon. Salami and hot dogs are also discouraged during the Attack phase, and every other phase of the Dukan Diet.

Considerations
While it makes sense that you shouldn't eat fatty bacon and sausage, you also need to consider how you prepare lean cuts of pork during the Attack phase. Because you're not allowed to consume carbohydrates and added fat, you won't be able to bread or fry your pork. You also won't be able to brush it with butter or oil before grilling or roasting it. Instead, you can eat it with condiments and ingredients that don't contain carbohydrates or that don't add fat to the meat. Examples include vinegar, herbs, spices and mustard.

Additional Considerations
The exception to the no-carbohydrates rule during the Attack phase is oatmeal, which participants are allowed to have 1 1/2 tablespoons of each day. During the Attack phase, you'll also be able to have calorie-free beverages such as water, black coffee, unsweetened tea and diet sodas. Because the diet is so restrictive, talk to your doctor before starting it. Cutting out entire food groups can lead to nutritional deficiencies, so embarking on the Dukan Diet under the care of a physician is essential.
